August 1st Hiking Tour to Lin Chuan

This is the first hiking tour we promote in cooperation with the "Sunny Hiker" hiking club. If you would like to participate please tell us (service [at] guilinexpat.com) or our hiking leader Mr. Johnson Xu (johnsonxu197599 [at] yahoo.com.cn) until Friday 31st the latest.

At the beginning of the tour we will meet in Guilin to catch the bus to Lintian Town, which is a part of Lin Chuan County. From there we transfer by "tuolaji", a kind of local tractor , to our starting point in Dong Zhuang Village.

From here we will hike along a brook until we reach an ancient bridge. We then follow an old trade-route through a pine forrest towards an old Pavillion called "March Mountain Five Li" (whereas 1 li = 0.5km) which was a resting place for tradesman in the old times.

We continue our hike to Chang Gang village where we will have lunch. Chang Gang village retained a lot of its historic buildings, e.g. the historic meeting house

Directly after lunch we will continue our tour to one of two nearby water reservoirs (depending on the mood of the group). You should bring your swimming clothes if you want to cool down by jumping into the water.

At the end of the tour we will catch a bus back home to Guilin. The tour is scheduled to last all day. Here a map of the hiking route. Click to open a larger image into your browser.
