Li River

Li River

The Li River or, as the Chinese say Lijiang( Àì½) originates in the Cat Ear Mountains (Mao Er Shan) in Xing'an country and runs through Guilin, Yangshuo, Pingle and Zhaoping before it flows down into the Xi Jiang, the western tributary of the Pearl River in Wuzhou. Its 437km long course is considered as one of the most beautiful landscapes in China.

Especially the 83-kilometer-long stretch from Guilin to Yangshuo, with its unusual karst topography and its beautiful scenery is a "must-see" for every Guilin Visitor.

There are several ways to explore the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo: Either you take the official Li River Cruise, which is a often crowded and expensive solution or you can take a hike and discover the scenery on your own pace. If your feet get too tired there will always be bamboo rafts on the river, willing to take you the rest of the way for a small (sometimes larger) fee.
